I've got the same problem omg! There's just so much going on and my mind tends to wander anyway
(I've been putting off driving for years because I really don't like it but eh, I'm about ready for the test, I'm gonna pass it then never drive again XD)
Sadly I can't really offer any advice except for to keep practicing, I know that's not very helpful, sorry haha

Ikr? I can't wait for self driving cars to be a thing XD
Ah that's good then! Also I think once you've got the written test done the actual driving part gets a lot easier since that's part of it out the way; then you can focus on the physical driving itself ^^

it looks like all the good advice was already given but
i promise absolutely promise that by a year driving will feel second nature to you
I MEAN ITS NOT GOING TO TAKE A YEAR TO GET BETTER but by a year you will forget what it was even like to suck at driving
and it does take that long to feel as comfortable as riding a bike
well maybe not that long but CLOSE TO IT
driving is just an art that just takes so much time to get used to
i was literally unable to park i sucked so bad for monthssss and my turns were so sharp and i was always so nervous and it was just a chore to drive for a really long time. like months. my only advice is
well practice, like everyone else said. because it is definitely something that only feels better after doing it a lot
BUT ALSO just dont ever get down on yourself for it either because a month is not a long time to be a good driver at all so dont even worry that you cant do this or that because trust me, if i went from doing the worst parking jobs in the world to parking (decently, anyway) quickly and with no problem, then you will be absolutely fine because honestly parking was the hardest part for me
like, zoning out to music while driving is the best thing ever
BUT YEAH good luck though and i know you will improve faster than you might think !

Let's see... I'll give you what I know for a pilot that has to drive around the #11 road rage city in America

Parking:
- Normal parking. This does seriously come with practice. But the best thing I learned is aligning the front wheel the first parking line then turning your wheel twice towards the direction you're going and twice back to normal (go slow until mastered)
- Parallel parking. This video explains it best -> www.youtube.com/watch?v=l4LcfZ…
- Back into a space. Don't

Driving:
- If it's downpouring rain and you can't see where you're going, look at the lane lines and stay aligned to those. Make sure to look for brake lights and traffic lights in front of you
- Don't speed while you're new. It's horrifying to everyone else
- Road rage: ignore it if someone's like honking at you or something. If they start following/tailgating you, drive to the nearest police station
- Don't gun it at traffic lights when the light turns green (if you're the first to go), that makes you more at risk of getting t-boned
- If you went to driving school, you probably learned formally the rules of the road and all that jazz. Well, those rules exist in an ideal world. You have to see how people in your city/town actually drive (Driving in Miami is not driving in NYC). Like where I'm from you're almost required to speed

Turning:

- Usually, it takes 2-3 rotations depending on your car for the driver's wheel to make a full turn. You'll get used to your car as you go
- If you're turning while moving, rotate the wheel when your front wheel is passing the curb
- If you're turning while stopped (you can turn your wheels while stopped to go into an immediate turn), make sure your front wheel is past the curb

Multitasking:

- It takes practice
- Create a habit of what order to look at things. Like look at speed gauge/gas, forward, mirrors, forward, repeat. As you get used to it you won't have to look at the speed gauge as much (I know the difference between 85 and 90 without looking)

Hope this helps!

yeahh same as the person above, it is unfortunately a lot of just practice and
muscle memory, like riding a bike almost haha...you really do just eventually get a feel
for it. as for the paying attention thing i still kind of have the same problem, that does
get a lot easier too the more you get used to it and your brain just kind of starts to
automatically check for things that take focus to do now (i.e. glancing down at your
speed, checking the mirrors), but that still is the hardest part of driving for me haha
also driving a lot in familiar areas can help a lot, i'm always at my worst at driving when
i don't know exactly where i'm going and how to get there
