I'm trying to convince my parents to let me get a betta fish or a shrimp or smth

Bc I've heard that fish help with stress and stuff like that
I mean my cat certainly helps me with stress but he doesn't always want to be around me grumbles
And I think the biggest reason why my mom doesn't want me to get anymore fish is because we've had fish in the past and I was horrible at caring for them
But idk how to tell her that nowadays I have more appreciation for things like that and that I'm far more responsible
Idk if I'll be able to convince her but if I can then I'll probably scream tbh
